Shirley and Des McGregor purchased their store in Te Puke in 1960

Since then, there has been so many changes that have taken place within the industry. Fortified wines were in demand back then, as there were no table wines available. When the industry moved into producing table wines, it was great to be associated with the winemakers who were only too happy to introduce us to their expanding variety.

McGregors is still run today by Shirley and Des, along with their daughter Sue and son-in-law Ashley, who all have a fantastic knowledge of wines.

Although we sell a wide range of spirits, beers, giftware and giftbaskets, wine has always been our specialty. We have a huge range of wines, and if you are looking for that something a “bit special” – we are the place to see.

We have a very active wine club and once a month we present tastings, needless to say this provides us with a great deal of knowledge which is great to pass on to customers to assist them with their purchases.
